General Discussion

Hey gang. I thought a general discussion area would be nice to have. We can ask questions, express concerns and hold discussions that don't readily fall under any pre-existing posts. It will be a perpetual thread that changes with each new issue. Perhaps this will keep TGL Forum neat and organized by reducing the number of new topics posted.

Well, since I started this I supposed I should go first. Alright, no offense, but do we have to have a Naruto banner? If everyone loves it then I will not press the issue, but if possible I think it would be nice to have it TGL related. If everyone would like I wouldn't mind working on a banner for here. Just a let me know.

I think the Naruto theme is hilarious, but a TGL banner would be more appropriate for the guild forum.

I asked IQ if she could change the banner and don't remember if she responded. If she can find a way then I think we should have anyone who wants to make one, do so, and hold a vote (dk if this forum has polls).

No offense taken. Even I know all the rules I broke making this *holds up degree* After all, that was just a first draft thrown together in minutes.

I dunno, I personally like that logo that Gargk made, the army in the background fits us perfectly. XD

That would be the difference in what we know and what you see... the pic is hardly ever the logo unless it is simplistic

Okay, here is what happened just so this isn't taken out of context. One day in guild chat somehow I was asked to make a logo (joke or not) and so I put together one very quick draft. After showing it to Fh he simply loved it and wanted to post it right away. Is it a work of art? No. But I never said it was a perfect masterpiece. Anyway, I believe their is a poll option for threads so as soon as we nominate some potential artists, the sooner we can put a poll together and vote.

I nominate Straw.

Don't be upset I was jesting at you... This is a game and free forum with a free logo ^__^ I'd be concerned in RL if it was the case. If we weren't so busy with things I'd work on something. If i get a bit of free time I'll give it a fiddle

Sorry, I had to school the pretentious student. This I put together in maybe 4 hours total through out the day. Next time you open your mouth Straw make sure it is quite empty... you will need a lot of room in there for your foot. Anyway, I don't care who designs it. What I do care about is someone finding a picture I did, posting it, and then someone tries to discredit my abilities based on one thing. Your stuff is simple and pretty Straw but I am graduated with 1.5 years of freelance under my belt. Don't doubt me or I will just have to show you up again.

Btw, that sacred gear is all hand done vectors... there isn't a single image on there I didn't create aside from the typeface I used for the "tgl."

So, have your pick everyone and decide which you would rather go with...


One more thing. Straw, get to work on the new content I am light-years ahead of you. Chop, chop.

FYI::: it's good but would never work in RL situation... If doesn't work in B & W it doesn't work ... but for gamin on line it's a dif ball game

I don't know that you showed me up but you did a much better job on the 2nd than the first. and I don't need to put my foot anywhere. I'm glad you take your work seriously. I'm also glad we get this opportunity to show different stuff. People other than ourselves can start to realize there is more to these things than just putting something together.

BTW... I think it's funny that you have a beard too ... so did raphael and leonardo... we could be on to something

Its pretty easy to see through your design philosophy to those professors spoon feeding you each morsel. This industry is vast man. Not every design needs to be "contemporary" and like business card logos. Don't forget who you are as an artist because it took me almost a year after graduating to snap out of that brainwashed haze of designer training. Separate yourself from the pack. That's what gets you noticed. Not strictly adhering to design principles. Think outside the box... outside the design trends...

Here is an idea. How about I can gift these as member shields and everyone gets one like this, for example...

probably go with a grotesque font though so you don't take away from the effect of the logo and distract from it. possibly a varient in the crest representing the officers or different rank?

A couple of critiques... TGL needs a little something... it's a flat black and you have DoF all through out. maybe bevel set or sheen? and the mag hat feels awkward cause of it's size to the other...
